Chaplains and Chaplain Aides
In the Boy Scouts of America, Chaplains are always adults. Normally, Chaplains are clergy. Some faith groups do not have identified “clergy,” and in those cases, the faith group may identify certain people to be B.S.A. Chaplains. Chaplains are to register as adult leaders, most often as “Committee Members.” They are to follow all B.S.A. guidelines for leadership, especially youth protection guidelines.
Chaplain Aides are Scouts. The position of Chaplain Aide is one of the recognized leadership positions within a Scout unit, and service as a Chaplain Aide meets the “leadership” requirement for Scout advancement.
